Samsung builds well on the success of the original Galaxy with a fast, attractive and fully featured phone, but one that requires a lot of juice to run. Read more

    • Lightning-fast performance, Super AMOLED Plus is fantastic, Camera is amongst the best we've seen, TouchWiz 4.0 has some neat shortcuts
    • Battery life is disappointing, Video-out requires a separate adapter

If you desperately need or want 4G connectivity on your phone and live or work in an area that's effectively serviced by Telstra's 4G network, the Galaxy S II 4G's fast data speeds will certainly impress you. However, newer phones like the HTC One X and Samsung's own Galaxy Nexus have better specifications, up to date software and more attractive designs. Read more

    • Fast 4G speeds, 4.5in display, Slick performance
    • Limited 4G coverage, Screen resolution outdated, Thicker, heavier than 3G model

Let's start this review by getting one thing out of the way first: the Samsung Galaxy S II is the best Android phone on the market, by far. It may also be the best smartphone on the market, period; even if we think this ultimately comes down to personal preference. The Galaxy S II combines one of the biggest and best screens on the market, with blazing performance, functional, stable software and decent battery life. Read more

    • Excellent performance and brilliant display, Ultra-thin and light design, Great multimedia features
    • Text hard to read when zoomed out in browser, Plastic battery cover and no camera button, Volume on earpiece could be louder

As soon as I unpacked this phone charged it up and switched it on I knew I made the right choice. I bought this phone outright online for $550 and I bought a 32GB Kingston microSD card (Class 10) for $95 online add $44 dollars freight (I bought them from different vendors so the freight is both items added together). That comes to $689. Good value for an outright purchase. Also I didn't have any telco locks or bloatware which was a big plus. Read more

Excellent device that I use all the time. Fast processor as easy to use . The battery is weak, but I forgive that in exchange for usefulness like no other phone. I can ebay, facebook or surf the net for news and weather from pretty much anywhere I happen to be. I usually charge each night and that's enough, but I have a charger at the work desk and in the car just in case. The juice defender app saves a lot of battery waste. Read more

    • processor speed, real useability everywhere.
