Canon FS100

The Canon FS100 is a camcorder that records using a removeable memory card (SD/SDHC) as its removable media. Maximum recording time is variable depending on memory card side. A 16GB SDHC card would give 10 hours and 25mins worth of recording. Its has 1/6" Interlaced CCD image sensor with True Widescreen and a total pixel of 1.07 megapixel. Effective pixel for movie recording is 710 K pixel while stills are 800 K at 4 : 3 mode. The camcorder utilises the DIGIC DV II image processor and has a 2.7 inch widescreen colour LCD display of 123K pixel. User may adjust brightness and backlight manually. The camcorder has Night mode, with a minimum Lux. of 1.7 lux (Night Mode). FS100 has Auto/Manual and Control Joystick operation (manual mode). There are 11 Program AE on the unit, Easy, P, TV, Portrait, Sports, Night, Snow, Beach, Sunset, Spotlight, and Fireworks. The unit also has Backlight Compensation, auto TTL white balance, and has a shutter speed range of 1/6th to 1/2000th sec. The FS100 has Auto Fade and Wipe digital effect and Black & White, Sepia, Art, Mosaic effects as well as Vivid, Neutral, Soft Skin Detail image effects. The resolution for still image are 1152 x 864, 1152 x 648, 640 x 480 and the unit has continuous shooting mode, auto exposure bracketing, AF Frame Function selection, histogram, photo button and self timer (it comes with a 2 sec wireless remote). Users may review recordings (of 3 recording quality modes - XP, SP, LP). Audio system is Dolby Digital 2ch (AC-3 2ch) compliant through an external microphone. Connectivity is via USB 2.0 Hi Speed and Direct Print is supported. The unit has Quick Start, LED built-in Video Light and has PC connectivity via SD memory card with USB cable, through Pixela ImageMixer 3SE software. The battery is a lithium-ion BP-808. The FS100 measures 58 x 60 x 124mm and weighs 260 g.

Features

The FS100 is a compact, lightweight camcorder that records to SD or SDHC memory cards. Users may share recordings with friends via SD card, or insert a card into a compatible card reader to transfer video to a computer. The FS100’s capacity grows depending on the capacity of memory card used. The camcorder uses an complementary colour filter on its lens which has an advance zoom of 45 x, optical zoom of 37 x, and digital zoom 2000 x. Focal length is 2.6 - 96.2 mm. Maximum aperture is f/2.0 - f/5.2 with a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 41.7-1877 mm on Movie mode and 41.5 - 1536 mm on stills (4:3 mode). Minimum focusing distance is 10 mm. The lens has an electronic image stabilizer. The combination of Canon video lens and DIGIC DV II processing provides long range for recording. Its CCD sensor has True Wide High Resolution 16:9 recording system which captures video in panoramic detail for playback on widescreen TVs. An external microphone can be attached for control over audio recording. Users can record up to 3 hours with the supplied battery. The FS100 is also takes digital stills cameras, with camera features such as Auto Exposure Bracketing, continuous shooting and a histogram display. Connectivity is with a USB 2.0 Hi Speed connection, through a single cable to transfer movies and photos to a computer. The FS100 comes complete with Pixela ImageMixerTM 3 SE which lets users organise, play back and edit video clips, and convert them to alternative file formats.
