List All 7 PricesThe D90 is Nikon’s latest amateur digital SLR, and my latest wish-list item. Some people hear ‘amateur’ and think ‘cheap’ or ‘underpowered’. While the D90 is certainly reasonably priced compared to professional models, to call it underpowered would be sheer idiocy. Some of the shiniest features are often reserved for amateur cameras, as the D90 well demonstrates. Read more
The Nikon D90 is a camera, apparently. I found it very easy to use, and I’m not even a regular Nikon guy. I love the way almost every feature has a dedicated button, and I could even get used to the idea of aperture and shutter being on dedicated dials. I like the way the active AF points are highlighted. A large square is shown around the active points. This is in comparison to the Canon approach where the active points are lit up in red. Read more

The Nikon D90 comes with a 12.3-megapixels DX format CMOS image sensor with the ISO sensitivity ranges from 200-3200 (ISO 6400 equivalent on Hi1 and ISO 100 equivalent on Lo1) providing low-noise images. Other features include the EXPEED processing concept (to maximize image quality and processing speed), enhanced Live View and the Face Detection System, Active D-Lighting (to adjusts the contrast between images light and dark areas by localising tone control as an image is captured) and Picture Control which allows customization of the look and mood of images by choosing from six settings, including new Portrait and Landscape modes. The D90’s Scene Recognition System uses a 420-pixel RGB sensor to analyze scene and colour information of the subject being photographed. The camera’s 11-point AutoFocus mode can be used to capture the subject’s colour information and maintain a sharp focus as the subject moves in the frame. There is also image-editing function, Distortion Control to adjust lens aberration, Straighten to correct the inclination of the image, Fisheye to produced optical effects similar to that of a fisheye lens and also options for viewing and selecting the right shot, including 72-frame playback, calendar playback and histogram display for a magnified portion of the image. The D90’s movie function allows user to capture HD720p (1,280 x 720 pixels), 640-by-424-pixels or 320-by-216-pixels movies of 24 frames per second in motion JPEG format combined with D90’s sensor display and low-noise, high ISO sensitivity performance plus the wide selection of sharp NIKKOR interchangeable lenses that are available, from fisheye to wide-angle to super-telephoto. Movies can even be played on the camera with sound, thanks to its unique speaker/microphone system. The D90 has been designed with an eye-level pentaprism viewfinder, offering some 96% frame coverage and an easy to view 19.5mm eye point. The 3-inch TFT LCD with 170 degree viewing angle and approximately 920k-dots VGA with 640-by-480-pixels support the Live View shooting with three contrasts-detect AF modes such as Face Priority, Wide Area and Normal Area. It also has a built in flash with 18mm lens coverage, Guide Number of approximately 18/59 (ISO 200, m/ft., 20°C/68°F) and Nikon’s original i-TTL flash control that works as a commander; controlling up to two groups of remote Speedlights. The D90 uses the Nikon EN-EL3e Lithium-Ion and when fully charged, it is sufficient to power the D90 up to 850 exposures or images. It measures at 103mm in height, 132mm in width, 77mm in depth and 620g in weight.
