    Adrian Malloch puts Sony’s new Alpha through its paces The Sony SLT-Alpha 77 is a very serious piece of gear but it took me a while to enjoy it.     This top-end Sony camera ticks all the right boxes from image quality to blisteringly fast shooting. If only it had a better battery and was a little more snappy in everyday use, we would have no qualms in recommending it wholeheartedly. Read more

    This is the flagship Sony DSLR with their unique translucent mirror system that passes some light to the image sensor and reflects part of the light to the focusing sensor. Combined with an electronic viewfinder the benefit of this arrangement over the conventional mirror/prism is that it allows full time live view and tracking auto-focus in movie mode. This is only useful if the EVF is any good, and the finder in the Sony is a stunning 2.4m dot OLED device. Read more
