    The beloved Fire Emblem series finally arrives on the Nintendo DS, but instead of a new game we get a remake of the original title that started it all. No worries, though, as it was never before released here in America and it's been updated with modern features and graphics. Hardcore Fire Emblem enthusiasts may complain that it's not the deepest story in the series and the difficulty has been scaled back just a tad. Read more

    Closing Comments Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon doesn't offer a revolutionary experience, but it is a highly polished and well-balanced example of strategy gaming. Nintendo did a nice job making sure it kept the challenge the series is known for while at the same time providing a friendlier experience for newcomers. The series superfans may be disappointed at the lack of new features, but this is still one of the strongest turn-based strategy experiences on the DS. Read more

    Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is a DS turn-based tactical RPG from the developer behind the Advance Wars series. Fundamentally the games are very similar, but Fire Emblem adds a deeper storyline with strong character development, as well as RPG elements not found in Advance Wars . Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is based on the first game of the series, Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryƫ to Hikari no Tsurugi , which was never released outside of Japan . Read more
