    The name suggests more of the same but with more space and better value. Hard disk lag issues, video out controversy and just okay sound stop it from being a true classic though. Read more

    Although we're pretty certain that Apple will get around to fixing the hard disk lag issue in the future, it's a pretty obvious bug to overlook and mars Apple's reputation for ease-of-use and design panache. Also distressing is the video out issue, which on the face of it seems like a case of price gouging. Overall, though, the new iPod is good value at AU$349 for the 80GB unit and AU$479 for the 160GB model. Read more

    The iPod still suffers the same fate as every other apple product, pathetic against bumps and scratches. My 512mb Sony Network walkman is more sturdy then this thing. Read more

Apple iPod Classic / 6th Generation

The Apple iPod Classic / 6th Generation has a two variations 80GB or 160GB. It features a click wheel for navigating through the songs, videos and podcasts. In addition to this it has the Cover Flow technology that enables users to go through the music list by album cover and by flipping it over, displays the track list. The display screen is 2.5" and measures 4.1 x 2.4x 0.41 (hxwxd) and weighs 4.9 ounces.

Features

The Apple iPod Classic / 6th Generation comes in either 80GB or 160GB. The iPod Classic features Cover flow, that displays album art, and instead of looking at titles, users can flip through the image of the album cover and if selected, it flips over to unravel the track list. It also integrates the use of the Click Wheel that enables users to adjust volume, navigate songs and browse in Cover Flow or even explore the music menu by playlist, artist, album, song, genre, composer and more. In addition to this it feature Shuffle songs that randomly mixes the tracks. Videos can also be played and it can be downloaded from the iTunes Store and then synchronised to the iPod. The videos are displayed on its 2.5" display. Podcasts is also a compatible feature to the Apple iPod Classic / 6th Generation it includes free video and audio podcasts from the iTunes store, some from Comedy Central, ESPN, and ABC. Subscribing to podcasts can be done via browsing, subscription and then synchronising to the iPod classic. When connected to the optional Apple component or composite AV cable, video podcasts can be displayed on a TV. The iTunes store also have audiobooks, and users can download them and while "reading" the audiobooks, users can use the bookmark feature and adjust the reading speed as well. Besides this, it also comes integrated with three games and more can be downloaded from the iTunes Store. The Apple iPod Classic / 6th Generation can store up to 25,0000 photos, which can be transferred via a Mac or PC via iTunes. Photos can be displayed on a slideshow with music as well as transitions on the iPod or on a TV using an optional enhancement. Music can be searched with the Click Wheel that allows the name of the song, artist, album, audiobook or podcast to be typed out and then the results are displayed. Additional features includes calendar, contacts, clock, as well as screen lock to lock the Click Wheel with a passcode and a stopwatch.
