The fourth-gen Nano is the friendliest one yet, with more customisation options, a smudge-free back and a wafer-thin yet sturdy construction. Those who dug its squarish predecessor may get a bit of a shock at the layout, but it's ultimately easier to use than the third-gen release. Read more

digg_skin = 'compact'; digg_bgcolor = '#f1f8fa'; digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/iPod_Nano_Review_This_Is_the_Best_iPod_Nano_Yet'; Apple’s decision to transition from the fat third-generation iPod nano to the new svelte fourth-generation iPod nano must have been an easy one. The latest version has the same size screen (just rotated vertically) and the same video support as before, but adds a much more comfortable (sorta) oval shape, a curved screen, an accelerometer, a... Last year's iPod Nano marked a change that would see it as one of the more popular iPod devices. A small softened slightly rectangular shape and a thin depth coupled with the ability to play movies would make the Nano a hit with consumers. It was, quite literally as the product motto decreed, "a little music for your pocket". But this design wasn't enough for Apple for this year the iPod creators have released the fourth-generation model... and it's grown. Read more

The Apple iPod Nano 4G has two capacities one the 8GB and the other 16GB. It features a 2" screen that is in potrait mode. Some of its features include Apple Cover Flow music mode, "shake-to shuffle" where a user needs to shake the player to shuffle the music selection and the Genius feature that creates a playlist based on one-song’s that is chosen which is based on that song’s characteristic .Its additional features include an in built recoder, photos, podcasts, alarm, games, calendars, contacts and notes.

Features

The Apple iPod Nano 4G is offered in both 8GB and 16GB. It features a 2" high resolution screen in potrait mode which is covered by rounded glass. While being used in video playback mode, the Apple iPod Nano 4G needs to be turned towards the side. One of its other feature includes an accelerometer that adjusts the display on how the player is being held. For example while the user is viewing photos or while its in Apple Cover Flow music mode, the player would be most likely to be held in the potrait mode. It also allows a new "shake-to shuffle" feature that will automatically shuffle music playback when the player is shaken. An accidental or slight shake will not activate this feature, it has to be a strong shake. However, this is an optional feature as users are able to switch in on or off according to their preference under the settings option or the button hold switch situated at the top of the player. Another feature is the Genius feature. This is a feature where if a selected song is used from a collection, a playlist can be created that share the same characteristics of that one song and up to 25 songs can be added in this playlist. This is dependent on the amount of songs available in the playlist as well. With the integrated recorder, voice recordings, voice memos or even recording lectures can be done by utilising the optional headphones that has an inline microphone. For the vision impaired users, there is the ability to adjust the font size and also the menus and media information can be read out loud by a built in synthetic voice. Some of its additional features include music, photos, podcast, video playback, games. It also has organiser features such as alarms, calendars, contacts, stopwatch and notes. The battery life on the Apple iPod Nano 4G is 24 hours for music.
