    Our heart is immediately drawn to the Touch's aesthetic qualities -- sleek design: check; robust feel: check; eye-popping interface: check -- yet our head says that AU$419 for an 8GB player or AU$549 for the 16GB is too much. Combine this with the flaws in the implementation and the unfulfilled potential of its OS X foundations, means we can only recommend it to those who are besotted by its looks and interface -- and we suspect they've already bought theirs.     When looking at the iPod touch , you have a choice: you can either see it as an evolutionary leap for iPod, or a slight downgrade from iPhone. You gain a thinner shell, up to 16GB of storage, but lose a bunch of apps, the phone, and some other surprising things. In our opinion, it’s both the leap and the downgrade, and therein lies the rub.     The iPod Touch looks so much like an iPhone that comparisons are inevitable, but that’s not really comparing Apples with Apples — it’s designed to be a touch screen iPod media player, not a touch phone. Read more

The Apple iPod touch supports multiple formats of music files and displays its images and videos on a 3.5" widescren Multi-Touch display at a 480 x 320 pixel resolution. It is available in three storage capacities; 8GB, 16GB and 32GB flash drive. It features Wi-fi support, Nike+ iPod built in , as well as Maps. It also comes together with a built-in rechargable lithium ion battery.

Features

The Apple iPod touch features a 3.5" widescreen Multi-Touch display with a 480 x 320 pixel resolution at 163 pixels per inch. It comes in three types of capacity ; 8GB, 16, GB or 32GB flash drive. This allows storing 1,750, 3,500 or 7,000 songs (respectively) in 128-kbps AAC format. It can also store up to 10,000 , 20,000 or 25,000 images that are viewable on an iPod. Videos of up to 10, 20 or 40 hours can be stored depending on whether its a 8GB, 16 GB or 32GB. Its frequency response is 20Hz to 20,000Hz and the supported audio formats are AAC (16 to 320 kps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAV. It also supports 480p and 576p component TV out. The Apple iPod touch supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Nike + iPod built-in support as well as Maps location-based service. Various international languages are supported,as well as 34 international keyboards and 21 dictionaries including German, Spanish, Finnish amongst many others. The Apple iPod touch can be connected to a Mac computer using the USB 2.0 port, compatible with Mac OS X v 10.4.10 or later and iTunes 8 or later. Its supported with PC with USB 2.0 port and is compatible to Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later and iTunes 8 or later. The Apple iPod touch comes with a built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery with a playback time of up to 36 hours when fully charged for music and video playback time of up to 6 hours when fully charged. Charging can be done via USB to computer or power adapter and fast charging could take up to 2 hours depending on the battery capacity and its full charge is approximately four hours. The Apple iPod touch is designed with some features that are kind to the environment such as the usage of arsenic free glass, brominated flame retardant free, mercury free, PVC- free and has a highly recyclable stainless steel enclosure.
