Dead Rising 2 confirms that this is a development team that listens. Taking the good from the original and cutting or fixing the bad. It still carries all the horror spliced with comedy from the first and creates a world that intrigues, entertains and disgusts in equal measure. With repeat play a probability and the new multiplayer options this is one of those games worth braving the mall for. Read more

Dead Rising is a unique experience that no other franchise quite replicates. But part of the appeal lies in how different it is from other games. There have now been four Dead Rising games released in little more than a year, and this may be a case of too much of a good thing. Off the Record just doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from previous games in the series, so even the most ardent fans should be resistant to dive in again. Read more

    • The core of Dead Rising is still awesome, Juggling time is engrossing fun, Tons of weapons, locations, and secrets to uncover.
    • Almost identical to Dead Rising 2, Sandbox mode gets boring fast.

The Dead Rising formula proves to be as addictive as ever, and a new cooperative mode and weapon crafting system are great additions to the franchise. Read more

    • Clever and brutal weapon combinations, Focused mission structure keeps you moving, Psychopaths have disturbing backstories and offer challenging fights, Tons of hidden...
    • Long and frequent load times, Controls are not always responsive.

Most long-standing irritations of the series persist with the constant annoyance of rest room saves, long load times between sections and mincing about like you’re wading through jelly, though you’ll brush these concerns aside in the grand scheme of things. The slight tweaks and addictive co-op made it a hoot and a half (you haven’t lived until you’ve seen a semi-serious cut scene with both Chuck and Frank in hairnets, hearted boxers and open hospital gowns) from the... • Plays well on your own or in co-op, No babysitting survivors, Laser Swords and Electric Prods!, Axing Security and Zombie Handlers
    • Still slow loading times, Taking a pee to save, No split screen co-op

If you have Dead Rising 2 then there’s little reason to re-invest in Off the Record. In that case the game gets 69%. On the other hand if this is your first Dead Rising experience you’re in for a treat (and for newcomers we give it 80%). Read more
