The year is 2027. The world as we know it is unraveling after fifteen years of economic meltdown and widespread global conflict over dwindling natural resources. A once proud America has fallen, her infrastructure shattered and military in disarray. Crippled by a devastating EMP strike, the USA is powerless to resist the ever expanding occupation of a savage, nuclear armed Greater Korean Republic. Read more

First-person shooters are quickly becoming the reality show of video games. No, Jeff Probst isn't going to weasel his way into Call of Duty, but first-person shooters, like reality shows on television, are everywhere. Both are saturated categories full of a lot of uninspired, derivative entries. So when there's a new offering in an overused genre, it has to be special to get noticed. Read more

Closing Comments I liked Homefront a lot, and yet I acknowledge that the aspects of the game I like the most aren’t the most important in determining whether the game is great or not. Homefront is certainly one of the most unique shooters I’ve ever played, driven by an ingenious and surprisingly well-fleshed out plot and a dark and dreary, realistic setting. Read more

The diverse mechanics that combine to make Homefront's multiplayer what it is may be familiar to genre veterans, but they are well integrated and achieve a nice balance. Matches in Homefront don't feel quite like matches in other games, and there's enough depth here to fuel plenty of hours of combat. Yet, the best part of Homefront is the thoughtful and thorough vision of the future laid out by the campaign. Read more

    • Unflinching representation of military occupation, Some very memorable moments, Well-crafted online multiplayer.
    • Very short campaign ends abruptly, Action feels overly familiar, Multiplayer makes no use of intriguing setting.

If the multiplayer hadn't been so impressive this would have been one to miss. If you enjoy online FPS's then you'd do well to check out Homefront . Plenty of room for improvement for the (almost inevitable) sequel. Read more

Large scale warfare like on MAG but minus the flaws with that. The videos that are more recent show this being better than Black Ops and Battlefield but only time will tell. Read more
