After what seemed like months of waiting and dreaming of glowing balls, PlayStation Move is upon us, and leading the charge on the software side of things is Sports Champions, a mini-game collection of six different sports. Sony thinks so highly of this title that it's packed in the official PlayStation Move starter pack and the official Move/PS3 bundle. Read more

Closing Comments Sports Champions is fun, but it’s rough around the edges. The gameplay is solid for the most part and will provide you with some good times and there’s a lot for a single player to do, but it’s not going to feel fresh for long. This is another motion controlled mini-game collection. It’s a good one, but it’s not taking the genre anywhere new. Read more

Nonetheless, this is the game to get if you’re set on buying a Move controller or two. It’s a shame that we couldn’t have more involved experiences at launch, but Sports Champions should tide you over until the mythical bunch of ‘second generation’ Move games arrive - and it's priced reasonably at around $60. If they can flesh out the concepts found here, Move should end up being a very interesting platform. Read more

Sports Champions lets you and your friends physically engage in an array of competitive sporting activities from the comfort of your home. Every event brings its own unique twist to the controls. Use your PlayStation Move as a racket in table tennis as you conduct high speed rapid exchanges against your challenger while you employ a variety of strategies and tactics to win; or ignite the arena and use your PlayStation Move as a sword and swing your arm forward to blast... At the other end of the scale where ease of play is concerned, gladiator duel isn't nearly as accessible nor, unfortunately, nearly as varied. Like every other event in Sports Champions, gladiator duel can be played using only a single motion controller, but along with beach volleyball, it's best played with two. That way you can use one controller as your weapon and the other as your shield and move them simultaneously. Read more

    • Responsive and mostly intuitive motion controls, Plenty of variety courtesy of the six sports and their respective minigames, Most events are accessible enough for any...
    • Unremarkable presentation, Some of the sports get old in solo play.

I have played a couple times on the Wii at a friends house. Enjoyable, but really low quality graphics. When I came back another time, he bought the PS3 Move and this game! Wow, I just had to get it. The game play is very realistic. Compared to the Wii, you feel a lot more in control and it feels more realistic. With table tennis, it really moves where you want to to go, for instance. And FYI... Amazing graphics! Read more
