Closing Comments Don't worry if you've never played an Ys game before -- the story of Ys Seven is self-contained and easy to get into. The real fun comes from the game's battle system, which features plenty of action, special moves and enough coins to make Mario jealous. It's a shame that the characters aren't more fully fleshed out and that events hew so closely to role-playing game cliche, but ultimately Ys Seven rests on the strength of its action. Ys Seven is the latest installment in the very long running Ys series. This was my first time playing an Ys game and I didn't know what to expect. I was not disappointed with what I found. The story is like any other Ys game where Adol and Dogi arrive in some new land and get involved in a journey to save the world. It sounds pretty generic but it has an excellent cast of characters and plenty of twists in the story. Gameplay wise Ys is an action RPG similar to Zelda. Read more
