The original Wii Sports is “the best selling video game of all time”. However, those numbers are largely due to the fact that it is a game packed in with one of the best selling consoles of all time. I have no doubt that Wii Sports Resort will sell incredibly well, but unless every Wii owner out there buys a copy, the numbers will fall well short of the 45 million odd copies the original “sold”. In the sound and graphics department, expect more of the same as we saw and heard in Wii Sports: bright, vivid colours, simple but charming locations populated by a selection of Miis (including player-generated ones), and a ‘summer holiday’ soundtrack which complements the setting quite nicely. The Nintendo Wii is a polarising device. Ask a gamer, and most of them will agree that the PS3 is overpriced, and the XBox 360 is unreliable. These are facts. The Wii on the other hand polarises people between love and meh. The graphics are decidedly last-gen, and the controller is either miraculous or just a pointless add-on, depending on who you ask. All said, Wii Sports Resort is still going to be a worthwhile purchase for anyone that loved the first Wii Sports - it's a fun party game and once again so simple, everyone can play. I really enjoy the swordsplice and basketball shooting practice. Bowling is very lifelike and very responsive to twist and speed. The rowing game is kinda crappy because it doesnt register which side you are rowing on but this makes it funny to watch! I wish more games had the motionplus like this. Read more
