ACR is a thoroughly enjoyable title, but the slight lack of creativity holds it back from reaching the sky-high echelons of the other huge blockbusters released in recent weeks. Four stars. Read more

The hook also allows you to reach out and grab walls as you fall--walls that would be out of reach in previous Assassin's Creed games. You can also buy parachutes and activate them in midair, which feels free and easy, like wafting downward on a cool breeze. Revelations makes it more fun than ever to stay on the move. • Tower defense isn't fun, Desmond sections aren't fun, Disappointing main story.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations is a game that unfortunately doesn't provide a lot of revelation, but it is a fitting send off to both Altair and Ezio. While I loved the annual game releases for the past couple of years in the franchise, this was admittedly the first time where I was worried that we may be entering the quantity over quality territory in the future. Despite some of these reasonably minor problems, and the story not being quite as revelation-y as the title would suggest, Assassin's Creed: Revelations is truly an amazing game that's tonnes of fun to play. If I were a more cynical gamer, I'd complain that this game felt like nothing more than a stop-gap to the next chapter in the face of the franchise becoming more and more like just another yearly release title schedule.
