Batman returns in the spectacular follow-up to 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum. Rocksteady have once again produced an epic action title brimming with polish and sophistication, and entirely worthy of the Dark Knight's rich superhero lore. Read more

    • Outstanding presentation, story, combat, score. New weapons and gadgets. Lots of content. Incredibly fun.
    • It finishes eventually. Demon trials are little more than flying tests. Impossible to give all of rogue’s gallery their time in the limelight.

When you’ve finished the campaign, Arkham City includes Challenge Maps and other worthy unlockables that easily amount to over 40 hours of solid gameplay. Not to mention Robin’s extra Challenge Maps and an up-coming Nightwing DLC that will ensure this game is still getting game-time all the way up to Christmas. Perhaps even next Christmas. Be in the queue when Arkham City goes on sale tomorrow. Five stars. Read more

Arkham Asylum rocked my expectations of what a game based on an established franchise can be, if handled properly. One moment, videogames based on comic book superheroes are all dumb and doomed to mediocrity at best, the next, we’re looking to the next game based on Batman as a probable contender for a good many Game Of The Year awards before anyone’s even played it. If you own Batman: Arkham City but prefer confronting thugs within the context of the game's story to doing so in the Riddler's Revenge challenges, the Nightwing Bundle Pack (which costs $7.00) probably won't make these isolated challenges more enticing. However, if you do enjoy these scenarios, Dick Grayson's unique abilities and the different medal challenges that go along with them make suiting up as Nightwing a fresh and enjoyable new way to take out bad guys and... • Nightwing's gadgets and abilities change predator challenges significantly, Character-specific medal challenges give you a reason to change up your approach.
    • Nightwing doesn't bring much new to combat challenges.

Sequels this good rarely come along. To best a game as technically and thematically sound as Arkham Asylum takes some doing and Rocksteady have delivered in spades. It matches its predecessor's narrative finesse, and excels in every other aspect. What it lacks it ‘whoa' value, it makes up for with a host of side quests, collectibles and nods to Gotham's history that is sure to keep any Batman enthusiast occupied. Read more

    • the lively open-world of Arkham City, another narrative triumph, more gadgets and ‘freeflow' goodness, Mark Hamill, ladies and gentlemen..., a heap of things to do
    • Nolan North's delivery as Penguin, Catwoman's mostly self-centric plot, limited screen time for some great villains
